SITE REVAMP!
Don’t panic! Everything is still here
Main changes are as follows:-
1 - “Scales and Arpeggios” on the menu is the new home for all stuff to do with scales, broken chords and arpeggios including the stuff that used to be on the old “Grade One” menu tab.
2 - “Theory” is what used to be “Grade Five Theory” on the basis that it is there for ALL students, not just those preparing for Grade Five Theory examinations. More lessons are in the pipeline.
3 - “Musing on Music” is my attempt at a blog where I jot down thoughts about the piano, music in general and this site!
I am a teacher with thirty-five years experience, both in schools for twenty-five years and, more recently, working in private, one-to-one tuition, focussing on piano from beginner to beyond grade 8, music theory to grade 8 and organ and voice from beginner to Grade 6. I am pleased to say that I have a 100% pass-rate for my students taking ABRSM graded examinations.
I teach at my home in Shrewsbury and around Shrewsbury, Shropshire and at Christ Church, Shelton-and Oxon, Shrewsbury for organ tuition where I am Musical Director.
I am the accompanist for Shrewsbury Choral who recently performed my “Requiem - In an age of anxiety”, composed during the Covid Lockdown of 2020.
I am also one half of the Cook-Bowen Piano Duo performing recitals of Piano Duets in Shropshire and Cheshire.
I am available to accompany for music examinations for the main UK examination boards. I am also available as adjudicator for school music competitions.
Other musical activities include music typesetting for composers and the creation of online video rehearsal files of choral repertoire for choirs and schools.
